This page explains how to request deletion of your DhanLekha account and associated data. DhanLekha is developed and operated by Swarjun Tech, the developer of DhanLekha. For details on what data we collect and how it is handled, see our Privacy Policy.
1. Delete from within the app
- Open DhanLekha and sign in.
- Go to the Account tab.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm by tapping Delete.
If you see a “please log in again” message, sign out and back in, then retry. Re-authentication shortly before deletion is a standard security requirement.
2. Request deletion by email
If you can no longer access the app, email connect.dhanlekha@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account, with the subject “Delete my account.” We will verify ownership and process your request.
3. What is deleted
- Your login credentials (email and password, via Firebase Authentication).
- Your profile: name, email address, and phone number.
- Your public look-up entry (display name and phone search keys).
- Your push-notification token.
4. What is kept, and why
- Shared ledgers and split expenses that also belong to the friends or groups you shared them with are retained, so those other members keep their own records. Once your account is deleted, these entries no longer contain your name or contact details.
- Data stored only on your device (your personal, non-shared transaction history) is removed when you uninstall the app. It is never stored on our servers, so there is nothing for us to delete on the server side.
5. Delete specific data without deleting your account
You do not have to delete your entire account to remove individual records. Inside the app you can delete:
- Individual transactions.
- Friend ledgers.
- Groups and their split expenses.
Deleting a shared item also removes it for the other members it was shared with.
6. Timing & Retention
Account and profile data are removed from our active systems upon request. Residual copies in routine backups are purged within 90 days. Retained shared records remain only as long as the other participants keep them.
